Hairdressers Without Borders is starting the new program in Lombok.
Lombok island is located east of Bali (Indonesia), the climate is tropical with warm and humid weather all year round. The weather right now is just perfect with bright daylight and green scenery.
The Population is about 2,5 million. The local inhabitants of Lombok are called Sasaks who make up 70% of the population, the predominant group with Balinese, Chinese, Arabian, and Javanese and other ethnics groups making up the rest. And Bahasa Indonesia is the National Language.

We are very happy to feel so welcome by Els Houttave the founder of “Grenzeloos Milieu” (Limitless or Infinite Environment) a non-profit organization that focuses on helping people and the environment.
The objective of ‘Grenzeloos Milieu’ is to reduce the ecological footprint and improve the quality of life. This means in particular raising awareness among (young) adults and children about the increasing C02 emissions from the burning of waste and the exhaust (mopeds, electric generators, coal plants). That dumping waste endangers their life, their children lives and their (farm) animals. The work is effectively assist in managing waste (prevention, sorting and recycling) and informing women and girls about the choice/possibility of birth control.

Tomorrow we will start the training course with our team of volunteers, very exciting.
